The 11+ Writing exam - what to expect
As part of the 11+ exam, your child may be asked to write a 30 - 50minute essay which may be any of the following:
WRITING TYPE 1
- A story
- A description
- A letter
- A recount
- A newspaper report
- A persuasive piece
- A discussion or
- An argument
Do remember that the essay could include a mixture of the above writing styles.
WRITING TYPE 2
Your child may be given a sentence they have to use as the beginning of a piece of writing.
WRITING TYPE 3
Your child may be asked to continue the passage used in a given comprehension passage. This is often referred to as an extended writing piece.
